When Precision Plumbing & Heating came to us with plans for a new facility, they weren’t just looking for a sign—they wanted a complete branding statement. From illuminated wall signs and parking lot signage to a bold freestanding monument with an electronic message center (EMC), the goal was clear: create a high-visibility, high-impact sign package that reflected their updated brand and stood out at a busy, landmark intersection.

The freestanding sign itself is a carefully engineered blend of form and function. Built from six major components—including a steel substructure, custom cabinet, EMC, contour channel, and decorative accents—each element works together to create a clean, intentional, and visually striking design. Instead of a traditional “box on a stick,” the team used break-formed aluminum, radiused corners, and custom face retainers to achieve a refined, architectural look.

One of the most eye-catching features is the custom bent aluminum tubing that wraps the cabinet, painted to resemble Precision’s signature copper piping. Spaced slightly off the cabinet, the tubing creates a floating effect that ties directly back to the copper graphics found on Precision’s fleet vehicles. That same design language carries through the wall-mounted channel letters, where painted raceways and faux elbow fittings turn necessary structural components into creative brand details.

Behind the scenes, this project was a true collaboration between design, engineering, fabrication, and installation. From scaling real copper fittings for accuracy to engineering a contour channel that nests perfectly into the cabinet’s shape, every step required thoughtful problem-solving. Zoning requirements, EMC size limitations, and a crowded intersection full of utilities and competing signage meant precise planning—and even a few last-minute adjustments during installation.

The result is a cohesive, internally illuminated sign system that enhances curb appeal while reinforcing Precision Plumbing & Heating’s brand day and night. With bright winter mornings and evenings, the EMC helps communicate services, hiring needs, and community messages to commuters, all while delivering a fresh look that’s instantly recognizable. It’s a project that shows what’s possible when creativity, craftsmanship, and collaboration come together.
