Some projects are hard to miss. Others can be seen for miles.
Pro Image Design recently completed a major lighting upgrade on the water tower at Turtle Creek Casino & Resort, one of the most visible landmarks on the property. Over time, the tower’s original lighting had begun to fade, and the polycarbonate faces were yellowing from age and exposure. The existing red LEDs were no longer providing the clean, bright look the tower deserved, making it the right time for a full lighting retrofit using today’s technology.
This project was anything but ordinary. The crew worked roughly 110 feet in the air and brought in a 125-foot lift to reach areas of the tower from the road. Because the tower is built into a hill with limited access, positioning equipment was a challenge of its own. The team had to continually move lifts around the tower to reach each ring of lighting, often using two lifts at once to work efficiently and safely.
Inside the tower, the project brought its own set of surprises. The crew had to work within the stem of the tower, using a 100-foot ladder in a space that felt a little like something out of Jack and the Beanstalk. In addition to the height and access challenges, the team also worked through some finicky voltage issues that came up during the retrofit.
In total, about 2,200 LEDs were replaced or upgraded. The project also included electrical improvements, with transformers rewired to the inside of the tower for easier service access in the future. While the new lighting draws about the same amount of power as the old system, it gives Turtle Creek far more control through addressable LED modules. That means the tower can now do much more than simply light up — it can be customized, programmed, and used in new ways to support events, branding, and special occasions.
This water tower upgrade also builds on other lighting work Pro Image Design has completed across the Turtle Creek campus in previous years, including architectural accent tubes at the back entrance and lighting at the front of the cashier stations. Together, these projects help keep the property’s visual identity bright, polished, and consistent.
For Turtle Creek Casino & Resort, the water tower is more than a structure. It is a recognizable part of the property’s identity and a visual marker that can be seen from miles away. Refreshing the lighting brought back the clean, vibrant look the tower was known for while adding new capabilities for the future.
The client was impressed to see the tower looking sharp again and excited about the possibilities the upgraded system provides. For our team, this project was a great example of what Pro Image Design does best: solving complex challenges, working safely at elevation, and bringing bold visual projects to life.
In other words, doing cool things — way up high.
