This quarter’s technical update features our Automatic Feed Radial Arm Saw, also referred to as an Extrusion Saw. This massive 900-pound machine can cut through a variety of materials including aluminum, steel, brass, bronze, plastics and fiberglass.

When we have larger, fabricated sign projects, extrusion is often used to create framework for the sign cabinet, which in turn holds the sign face. An Extrusion Saw allows for several types of precise cutting applications, including cross cuts, miters, bevels and compound miter work. Clean cuts can be made from 5” – 8” thick material in a single pass.

The machine is made in the USA and constructed of cast and ductile iron for vibration free operation. The advantages of the Extrusion Saw are two-fold: the ease of operation and exact measurements make for smoother manufacturing. It also allows us to keep formerly outsourced work right here in our Traverse City facility.
