Vehicle graphics are one of the most popular products that we offer at Pro Image Design.
After having a truck or trailer lettered, our wonderful clients often come back when they add a new vehicle to their fleet. We love that repeat business, and want to give our best on every project. That’s why when someone says that they have the exact same truck as the last one, we still insist on photos and measurements.
We’ve learned the hard way that vehicle features can change from one year to the next (or even in the same year) depending on the model. Imagine our surprise when we start installation and the vinyl doesn’t fit correctly. This most often results in having to reset the design, and then create new decals, costing extra time and materials – not just for us, but our clients too.
There are vehicle templates out there, but they give us limited information. Templates don’t show such features as the curves on the vehicle body, plastic side panels (that vinyl won’t adhere well to), bumpers and emblems. When it comes to new vehicle graphics, a picture really is worth a thousand words.
We understand that it’s not always easy or possible to bring your vehicle to us. For most projects the survey process is simple and can be completed at your home or business. Here are some simple steps for completing a basic vehicle survey:
- Tape a piece of 8.5×11” paper horizontally onto a flat surface of the driver’s side door of your vehicle. This gives us a measurement for scaling the photo correctly.
- Be sure that you are looking at the side from a straight viewpoint. This is important so that the photo isn’t skewed.
- Step back far enough from the vehicle, so that the full length from bumper to bumper is included in your camera frame. Confirm that nothing is cropped or cut off.
- Take one or two photos. Repeat for the passenger side and back of the vehicle.
- Email the photos to us at a high quality setting, so that the photos aren’t blurry once scaled correctly.
We have these steps outlined in a survey guide if you prefer to send measurements (and you’re handy with a tape measure). Contrary to popular belief, the winter months are a great time to have vehicle graphics installed. Contact us to get started on your project!
